Mosaizer Pro - Transform images in mosaics
Review by on
While browsing the Internet, sometimes we stumble upon some interesting mosaics, like an image composed of thousands of smaller ones. If you ever wondered how they make these images or if you want to create something similar, you can use Mosaizer Pro. Creating such a mosaic by hand would take ages, but if you use this simple, straightforward application, you can create and customize one in less than a minute.

The download weighs in at 10 Mb, which should not make you wait too long. After the download is complete, you need to unpack the setup file and run it. The installation wizard will not hinder you with any additional settings, so the whole process will go smoothly.

The interface combines simplicity with efficiency. The larger area on the right side of the window features a preview of your image and the settings can be made on the left side by making use of three drop menus. Expanding the first one will reveal a button for loading source image. The size and number of the miniature images which will form the source one can be adjusted with two sliders, in the second drop menu. Two more sliders can be found under the third menu and you can use these to fine tune the color and blending levels of the miniature images. Before transforming it, you can also adjust the brightness, contrast and the saturation of an image. If you want to transform only a portion of the image, you can draw a rectangle by clicking and dragging over the preview.

When you are ready, you can click the Start button in the upper left area of the main window. The time it will take to complete the transformation process depends on the number and size you set for the miniature images. You can switch between different views on the preview area via navigation tabs. The Pre-process tab is where you can see your original image and the Mosaic results tab will display the converted image. You can make further adjustments to the mosaic, regarding color and blending, under the Post-process tab. Here you will find the same sliders for setting the color and blending levels. While modifying these levels, the results will be displayed in real time in the preview. When you are done, you can click the Apply button in the lower right corner of the window to make these changes permanent. You can also set a different number and size for the miniature images before clicking Apply, but the results will not be shown in real time.

When setting the number of miniature images, a grid will be displayed over the original image in the Pre-process view. This will give you a better idea on how the image will look like after transforming it. By default, the tiles are square, but you can change their height and width in the Super Controls window, which can be brought up from the Special functions menu. Changing these sizes can be done easily by making use of sliders. Regardless of the settings you make, the result will look good. The software gives you a good grip on setting the number, size and shape of the miniature images which will form the big picture. The miniature images will be selected automatically by Mosaizer, according to the colors found on your loaded picture.

Pros:
A mosaic can be created fast, without having to navigate any complex options. Simply load an image, make a few adjustments and you will have a good looking result immediately.

Cons:
Even if the software is easy to use, you will still have to experiment with the settings before creating a mosaic.

The simplicity of Mosaizer's interface will let you transform any image in a mosaic with minimum effort.
